Arsenal ‘pushing’ to sign Newcastle star Alexander Isak

Arsenal have reportedly been ‘pushing’ hard to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, as per the Daily Mail.
After moving to St James’ Park Stadium from Real Sociedad back in 2022, the Swedish international helped his side qualify for the Champions League in his debut campaign at the club.
The Magpies failed to replicate the same performance in the Premier League last term but the forward displayed his goal-scoring prowess, scoring 21 goals and registering two assists in the league.
Now, Isak has continued to showcase his best for Newcastle this season as well, scoring 17 goals and notching up five assists in 21 Premier League appearances.
Therefore, it seems having been impressed by the forward’s eye-catching performances, Mikel Arteta has registered his interest in signing him to reinforce the centre-forward position.
Isak to Arsenal
The Daily Mail say that Isak is one of the best all-round strikers in the world so the Gunners are keen on purchasing him and have been ‘pushing’ hard to get the deal done.
However, the forward has a contract until 2028 with Eddie Howe’s side so they are in a strong position to demand a big fee to sell him and have slapped a whopping £120m price tag on his side.
This is a huge stumbling block for Arsenal to seal the deal. Moreover, along with the North London club, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also considering making a move for him.
The report claim Arteta’s side have also shortlisted alternative options in-case they fail to sign Isak with Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Jonathan David on their radar.
Arsenal have found themselves in need of a new striker following Gabriel Jesus’ season-ending knee injury. Now, the responsibility is on Kai Havertz to keep on playing every game and continue performing at his best.
The former Real Sociedad star is a proven goal-scorer in the Premier League so he would be a great acquisition for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his service in January or next summer to reinforce the attacking department.
