Arsenal Ready £48m Move for Spain’s Nico Williams
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a £48 million offer for highly-rated Spanish winger Nico Williams, according to reports from Fichajes.
The move is aimed at strengthening the Gunners’ attack as Mikel Arteta looks to add depth to his forward line.
Arteta has been a long-time admirer of the Spanish international, who played a key role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.
Williams dazzled during the tournament, scoring crucial goals, including the opener in the final that helped secure the trophy for his country.
Arteta is eager to bring in reinforcements as injuries to key players like Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus have left Arsenal short of attacking options. Williams has reportedly emerged as a top target, with the Gunners keen to trigger his £48 million release clause, as per Fichajes.
Despite enduring a quiet season so far, with just one goal and three assists, Williams remains a highly rated player. Known for his blistering pace, skill, and creativity, the 24-year-old winger is seen as someone who could bring a new dynamic to Arsenal’s attack.
Nico Williams to Arsenal
The Gunners were interested in signing Williams during the summer, with Barcelona also in the race. However, the winger chose to stay at Athletic Club, where he continues his development.
Arsenal’s renewed interest highlights the urgency to add more firepower upfront as they push for a strong finish in the Premier League.
If signed, Williams would compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for a spot on the wing. His arrival would provide Arteta with additional options and inject much-needed pace into the team’s attack.
Reports suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Athletic Club winger and are willing to meet his release clause.
However, Spurs have endured a nightmare campaign and won’t be in the Champions League next season, which will work in Arsenal’s favour.
Other Transfer Targets
Arsenal have been linked with several players this window, including Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, and Dusan Vlahovic. However, no deal has materialized yet, making the pursuit of Nico Williams even more critical.
The Gunners recently defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0, courtesy of a goal by Riccardo Calafiori. With their focus now shifting to the UEFA Champions League, Arsenal will aim to finish the group stage strongly as they prepare to face Girona in Spain.
