Arsenal plot raid to sign Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens, as per Caught Offside.
After joining the Gunners from Brentford, David Raya has established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper so Aaron Ramsdale decided to leave ahead of this season to play regularly.
Neto was hired on a loan deal from AFC Bournemouth late in the last transfer window to support Raya this season. But, he is a stopgap option as he will turn 37 next year, therefore, it is highly unlikely that Arsenal will purchase him permanently at the end of this campaign.
So, they have seemingly started looking at options to strengthen the goalkeeping department this year as they have been linked with a few names in recent times.
Boca Juniors’ Leandro Brey has been suggested as a potential target, while Espanyol’s Joan García has emerged as a serious option once again following their failed swoop last summer.
Lammens to Arsenal
Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have registered their interest in Lammens and have been keeping a close eye on his development before making a potential swoop.
Royal Antwerp would be open to letting him leave the club should they receive an offer of around £8m from his potential suitors such as the North London club.
Manchester United are also keen on signing him so Arsenal will have to overcome the Red Devils’ challenge to get the deal done.
The 22-year-old is 6ft 3in tall and is comfortable with both of his feet. He can play out from the back, is efficient in the air and is also an excellent shot-stopper. In 19 Pro League appearances thus far this season, the Belgian has kept four clean-sheets with an 80% saving rate.
The Royal Antwerp star is a talented player and possesses high potential so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his service by beating the record Premier League champions in this race to bolster the squad.
Meanwhile, after beating Brentford last night, Arsenal will take on Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League this weekend.
