Arsenal prioritising signing Dusan Vlahovic in January
Arsenal are reportedly prioritising signing Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic in the upcoming January window, as per a recent report.
The Gunners signed Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino in the summer to reinforce the defence and midfield respectively. Moreover, they also hired Neto and Raheem Sterling but the duo joined the club on a loan deal and is likely to return to their parent club at the end of this season.
It was also reported in the summer that the North London club were keen on signing a new centre-forward with Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
But, Mikel Arteta’s side eventually opted not to sign any striker before the deadline. Now, as per a recent report (via Inter Live), Arsenal are planning to strengthen the attack in January to help the Spanish boss finally win the Premier League this season.
The Gunners are interested in Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram but are prioritising signing Vlahovic as he would be more attainable in January. Juventus are willing to keep hold of him by tying him down to a new contract but Arsenal are willing to make a £50m bid to persuade the Bianconeri to cash-in in mid-season.
Vlahovic to Arsenal
Arsenal were keen on signing the Serbian a few years ago but the player refused to join Arteta’s side to sign for Juventus at that time. However, the forward hasn’t been able to develop his career at the Old Lady of Turin over the last few years.
Now, it appears despite failing to secure his signature last time around, the North London club haven’t given up on their hopes of signing him.
Vlahovic is a highly talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in the Premier League. The former Fiorentina star, standing at 6ft 3in tall, is quick, strong, good in the air, efficient in finishing off his chances and also works hard without possession.
The striker would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually make a concrete approach to sign him in the upcoming January window.
