Arsenal showing ‘strong interest’ in signing Oscar Gloukh
Arsenal have reportedly started showing ‘strong interest’ in signing Red Bull Salzburg star Oscar Gloukh, as per Caught Offside.
The 20-year-old joined the Austrian giants from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January last year. Upon moving to Red Bull Arena, the youngster enjoyed a stellar campaign last term, scoring seven goals and registering 11 assists in 29 league appearances.
Gloukh has started the new campaign impressively as well, making seven goal contributions in as many games in the Austrian Bundesliga this season.
So, it seems the youngster’s eye-catching performances for Salzburg haven’t gone unnoticed as he has started attracting interest from several big clubs around Europe ahead of the January window.
Caught Offside states that Arsenal are ‘keen admirers’ of Gloukh and they could decide to make a concrete approach to secure his signature next year.
Gloukh to Arsenal
Salzburg are prepared to let their star man leave in the winter window if they receive an offer of around £29m from his potential suitors such as Arsenal with the player open to moving to the Premier League.
However, the report says that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also eager to hire him, moreover, Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have been keeping a close eye on his development. So, it won’t be straightforward for the North London club to lure the Salzburg star to the Emirates Stadium.
Gloukh generally plays in the attacking midfield position but is also capable of playing in the box-to-box role like Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian is the only number ten Mikel Arteta currently has at his disposal and following his injury absence, the Spanish boss has been left without a specialist CAM at the moment.
Therefore, adding depth to this position would be the right decision. The fixture will come thick and fast for the Gunners in the second half of this season and they need options in every department to achieve their lofty ambitions at the end of this season.
It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign Gloukh in the winter window to reinforce the squad.
