Arsenal have a strong midfield department – which already have Declan Rice, Jorginho, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard in it.

Moreover, Mikel Merino joined the club from Real Sociedad very late in the transfer window but he has sustained a serious injury and as a result, he has been ruled out for several weeks.

Now, on TBR Football, Graeme Bailey has reported that the Gunners have been handed the opportunity to sign Adrien Rabiot as a free agent immediately and Mikel Arteta’s side could opt to take advantage of that.

However, the midfielder is demanding a large financial package of around £220,000-a-week in salary to sign for his next club and he needs to lower his wage to stay at the top European league – which is his wish.

The 29-year-old has already received offers from Turkish clubs like Galatasaray and Fenerbahce but he has no intention of moving there and he reportedly doesn’t want to move to Saudi Arabia either.

Rabiot to Arsenal

The journalist says Tottenham Hotspur have also been given the chance to sign Rabiot, while Bayern Munich and AS Monaco have also made contact to sign him. Therefore, Mikel Arteta’s side will have to overcome stiff competition to secure his signature.

Rabiot is a versatile player as he can play multiple positions across the middle of the park. He is quick, technically sound, good in the air, comfortable with the ball at his feet, can play threading passes between the lines and can also contribute defensively as well.

The Frenchman has already showcased his qualities at the highest level during his time with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain over the last few years.

After leaving Juventus, Rabiot, valued at around £29m by Transfermarkt, has been a free agent and hiring a player of his qualities for free would be a great coup for Arsenal if they sign him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to secure his signature over the coming days.

Meanwhile, after entering the international stage following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, Arsenal will now face off against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League next weekend.
