Arsenal ‘have a great chance’ to sign Zirkzee this summer

Arsenal reportedly have a ‘great chance’ to sign Bologna star Joshua Zirkzee this summer, as per the Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

Having displayed promising performances for Thiago Motta’s side this term, the 22-year-old has been attracting a lot of attention from several big clubs around Europe.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for the Dutchman over the last few months, but Manchester United have also expressed their interest in signing him.

Now, while citing and translating the print version of Gazzetta dello Sport, Sport Witness has reported that Arsenal have a ‘great chance’ to sign Zirkzee as the player could be tempted to move to the Emirates Stadium due to their ‘perfect’ playing style.

So, the report states that although Inter Milan and AC Milan are keen on signing him, the Gunners are a ‘real threat’ to them in getting any potential deal done for Zirkzee.

Zirkzee to Arsenal

It has been suggested that Bologna could demand a fee of around £68m to let their star man leave and Gazzetta dello Sport says that Arsenal have the financial muscle to sign the forward. So, they are currently in a strong position to beat the Milan clubs in this race.

But, it has been reported that Mikel Arteta’s side haven’t made a concrete approach to sign Zirkzee yet and it remains to be seen whether they eventually formalise their interest over the coming months.

The Gunners have been exploring the market to sign a new striker as they are reportedly set to prioritise strengthening their frontline in the upcoming window. Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres have all been suggested as serious targets but Zirkzee is reportedly on their radar as well.

The Bologna star is a talented player with high potential so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal with a view to the long-term future if they purchase him.

However, Zirkzee isn’t the most prolific goal-scorer to suggest that he would be the right signing for Arsenal to help them achieve their lofty ambitions next season. Therefore, I think the North London club would be better off signing a more proven option to reinforce their attacking department.
