Ousmane Diamonde ‘excited’ to join Arsenal this summer
According to Teamtalk, Ousmane Diamonde is ‘excited’ at the prospect of joining Arsenal this summer after ‘choosing’ the Gunners over Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Arsenal already have one of the league’s finest defences, conceding the fewest goals (24) and only four in their last 11 league games. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have developed one of Europe’s best defensive partnerships.
However, the Gunners still lack depth in defence as an injury to Saliba or Gabriel would be disastrous for Mikel Arteta. The Spanish coach is reportedly looking to sign a top young defender this summer to come in and support his first choice centre-backs.
Diamonde has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal over the past year. Last summer, the Gunners reportedly submitted a £30 million offer to sign the youngster but Sporting Lisbon rejected the bid.
Notably, the Gunners have continued to scout him over the last few months; they’ve probably done that as they plan on going back to close his deal this summer.
Diamonde wants to join Arsenal
Arsenal aren’t the only club showing a keen interest as TeamTalk says Chelsea have also expressed their interest in signing Diomande ahead of the summer window.
However, the report says the 20-year-old defender has ‘chosen’ to join Arsenal over the Blues and is ‘excited’ at the idea of playing for the Gunners if a deal can be agreed between the North Londoners and Sporting.
Arsenal are now firmly in he driving seat to sign one of Europe’s most talented young defenders but a deal won’t come cheap. TeamTalk says the Gunners may need to activate Diomande’s £69m release clause as Sporting Lisbon are unlikely to accept anything less.
It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will be prepared to spend that kind of money on a player who is unlikely to be a regular starter any time soon. But Diomande would be a terrific long-term signing for the Gunners if they could pull it off this summer.

A deadly center forward TargetMan is priority followed by a world class centerback. Jesus can cover right and left wing positions. Timber and Tommy can cover left and right back. if Partey and Jorginho leave then a defensive midfielder will also be needed. So that’s three players needed. CF, CD, DM. Keep smith Rowe maybe as back up to Odeguaard.
