Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a swoop to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot this summer, as per the Italian outlet Tutto Juve.

The 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from the Allianz Stadium last summer as his contract was about to end. The Gunners were reportedly interested in acquiring his service as a free agent but the midfielder eventually decided to stay at the Old Lady of Turin by signing a one-year extension.

However, with the midfielder’s current contract set to expire within a few months, speculation surrounding his future has started to grow ahead of the summer window.

According to the report by Tutto Juve, Juventus may struggle to persuade the midfielder to sign an extension so he is highly likely to leave the club as a free agent at the end of this season.

The report further claims that Arsenal are interested in signing him and they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service during the off-season.

Tutto Juve also states that Rabiot would be open to joining the Gunners if they make a concrete approach so Mikel Arteta’s side could manage to acquire his service this summer.

However, the report says that Newcastle United are also keen on signing him with the player open to joining Barcelona or Real Madrid, along with signing for a big Premier League club. So, it won’t be easy for Arsenal to purchase the Frenchman in the upcoming window.

Rabiot – valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt – is a versatile midfielder as he can be deployed anywhere across the middle of the park but he is most comfortable playing in the box-to-box role.

He is a highly talented player and has already showcased his qualities at the highest level over the last few years. So, the Frenchman would be a great coup for Arsenal and in addition, signing a player of his ilk for free would be a great piece of business for the Gunners if they secure his signature this summer.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to sign the 28-year-old to reinforce their engine room ahead of next season.
