Arsenal have reportedly registered their interest in signing Juventus star Weston McKennie this summer, as per the transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners have established themselves as one of the Premier League’s title contenders under Mikel Arteta’s guidance in recent years and it is likely they will add more firepower in the upcoming transfer window to help the Spanish boss achieve success next season.

It has been suggested that Arsenal want to reinforce their frontline by signing a new seasoned striker, but purchasing a new midfielder as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey is also on their wish-list. Partey has struggled with injury problems in recent years so the Gunners have reportedly decided to cash-in on him this summer.

Numerous midfielders have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Douglas Luiz, Martin Zubimendi and Amadou Onana being among them. But, McKennie is now emerging as a surprise target.

Writing on GiveMeSport, Jones has reported that Arsenal are interested in signing the Juventus star having been impressed by his recent displays in Serie A so they could make a concrete approach to acquire his service ahead of next season.

McKennie to Arsenal

However, the transfer insider says that McKennie isn’t high on the Gunners’ shortlist and they will only make a swoop for him if they can’t finalise a deal for any of their primary targets such as Zubimendi.

The journalist further claims that McKennie is set to enter the final year of his current contract so if Juventus can’t agree on a new deal with the midfielder then they will be open to cashing-in on him during the off-season.

Jones also states that Juventus could accept a fee of around £15m so the North London club can manage to acquire his service for an affordable price if they formalise their interest.

However, the journalist says that securing McKennie’s signature won’t be straightforward for the Emirates club as Manchester United, Aston Villa and Fulham are also keen on purchasing him.

The 25-year-old previously played in the Premier League during his loan stint at Leeds United last season. However, the American couldn’t manage to showcase his best in the English top-flight and failed to secure his side’s top-flight status.

So, it is surprising to see that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing McKennie to reinforce their engine room ahead of the summer window.
