Arsenal ‘keen’ on signing Victor Osimhen this summer
Arsenal are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing Napoli star Victor Osimhen in the upcoming transfer window, as per TEAMtalk.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners are set to sign a new prolific striker this summer to take the next step in their rebuild under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.
Numerous names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium ahead of the summer window with Ivan Toney being mentioned as their primary option. However, Osimhen has also been suggested as a key target for the North London club.
The striker – who has a £111m release clause included in his current contract – is reportedly set to move away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium at the end of this season to take a new challenge in his career.
According to the report by TEAMtalk, Arsenal are ‘keen’ on signing Osimhen so they could make a concrete approach to acquiring his service during the off-season.
However, the report claims that Chelsea are also interested in signing him and they have already opened talks with the player to persuade him to move to Stamford Bridge.
Osimhen to Arsenal
TEAMtalk further states that Osimhen has been convinced by the Blues as he has identified the West London club as his ‘first choice’ destination if he leaves Napoli. So, Arsenal will now have to work hard to change his mind.
The report also states that apart from Chelsea and Arsenal, PSG are also plotting a swoop for Osimhen as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe – who has decided to leave the club at the end of this campaign. Therefore, it is likely that there will be a fierce battle over a deal to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
The Nigerian is deemed one of the best strikers in the world as he has already showcased glimpses of his qualities at the highest level in recent years. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club can eventually manage to lure the African away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium during the off-season.
