Ex-Gunner heaps praise on Arsenal target Jarrad Branthwaite

By on February 26, 2024

Former striker turned pundit Ian Wright has heaped praise on ‘very brave’ Arsenal target and Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite.

After enjoying a promising loan stint at PSV Eindhoven last term, the 21-year-old has established himself as an integral part of Sean Dyche’s starting eleven this season.

The Englishman has been displaying eye-catching performances in the Premier League this campaign and it seems having been impressed by the youngster’s recent displays, several big English clubs have registered their interest in signing him, including Manchester United and Arsenal.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House, the former Gunners attacker has said that Branthwaite is a highly talented player and possesses ‘everything’ in his repertoire to become a top-class defender in future.

The pundit further states that he is a ‘very brave’ player and talks like a really mature person. So, the Everton star should be called up for the England squad in next month’s international break.

Pundit lauds Arsenal target Branthwaite

Wright said:

“I would like to give flowers to Jarrad Branthwaite. I believe now he will be in the next England squad. He has got everything. You watch how he plays, left-sided as well, he plays out well. Very brave. And then when you listen to his interview he sounds like somebody who is like yeah, I’m there, I’m here.

“He should be called up. And not only that, he should be played. Let’s have a look at him. I’m telling you we have a monster on our hands at left-sided centre-half. A monster.”

It has been suggested that Everton want a fee of around £75m to sell Branthwaite. So, Arsenal will have to break the bank to lure him to the Emirates Stadium ahead of next season.

The 21-year-old has showcased glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League this season so he could be a shrewd signing for Arsenal if they purchase him.

However, the North London club already have a settled centre-back pairing in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. So, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to spend the reported £75m fee to sign a backup defensive option in the upcoming transfer window.
