Arsenal have reportedly held initial talks over a deal to sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot this summer, as per the transfer journalist Graeme Bailey.

It has widely been suggested that the North London club are set to make a swoop for a new midfielder during the off-season as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey – who has been suffering from fitness issues over the last few years.

Numerous names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Douglas Luiz being suggested as their primary option. However, it seems purchasing the Brazilian won’t be easy for the Gunners as Aston Villa don’t want to let their star man leave.

So, Arsenal are seemingly forced to explore alternative options. It has been suggested that Mikel Arteta’s side are interested in signing Amadou Onana from Everton but Rabiot is now emerging as a new serious option.

The Frenchman’s current contract is set to expire at the end of this season so it seems the Gunners are planning to secure his signature by taking advantage of his current situation.

Rabiot to Arsenal

Bailey has reported on HITC that Arsenal are keen on signing Rabiot and they have already held initial talks with the player’s representatives over a potential summer swoop.

However, the journalist has reported that acquiring the Frenchman’s service won’t be easy for the North London club as Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing a move for him and in addition, Manchester United and Newcastle United are eager to secure his signature as well.

Bailey also states that although Rabiot has been attracting a lot of attention from several big English clubs, Juventus don’t want to lose their star man and want to keep him at the club.

The Juventus star – valued at around £34m by Transfermarkt – is a top-class player and has showcased his qualities at the highest level over the last few years. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him this summer.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to push forward with a deal to sign the 28-year-old if he eventually leaves Juventus at the end of this season.
