Pundit heaps praise on Arsenal star Leandro Trossard
Former defender turned pundit Micah Richards has heaped praise on Arsenal star Leandro Trossard following his recent impressive performances.
After moving to the Emirates Stadium from Brighton and Hove Albion last year, the 29-year-old has largely been used as a backup option to the first-choice attacking stars, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.
However, the Belgian has showcased his qualities whenever he has been handed the opportunity to play. Following Gabriel Jesus’ recent injury absence, Trossard has been starting regularly for Arsenal in recent weeks and has managed to put his name on the score-sheet on four occasions in the last five league appearances.
Now, speaking on The Rest is Football, Richards has heaped praise on the Belgian and said that the 29-year-old has been playing a key role for Arsenal as he has been managing to pop up with some ‘important goals’ in recent games.
The pundit further claims that Trossard might not be a regular starter, but he brings something different to this Arsenal team with his tendency to run in behind the opposition backline, his qualities in linking-up the play and his clinicalness in front of the goal.
Pundit lauds Trossard
Richards further states that Trossard has fitted into the Arsenal team perfectly and he has been ‘outstanding’ for the North London club.
Richards said:
“You know who has been key for them with important goals? Trossard. He probably doesn’t get in everyone’s starting 11 when everyone is fit, and Jesus is playing well and Martinelli and Saka are playing as they are now, but he just brings something different to that team with his runs in behind.
“Coming to the ball to link up. And then in front of goal, he is clinical. I knew he was a good player at Brighton but he has really come to Arsenal and fitted in straight away. To have that from the bench has been outstanding for him and when he starts he’s been brilliant.”
Trossard has been excellent in recent times and the North London club will be hoping that the former Brighton star will be able to continue showcasing his best over the coming weeks to help Arsenal win the upcoming games.
