Fabrizio Romano backs Arsenal after their 6-0 win over West Ham
Fabrizio Romano, on his Caught Offside Daily Brief, revealed how he has always backed Arsenal despite their blip in December after the Gunners boosted their title hopes with an emphatic win at West Ham on Sunday.
Romano says he backed Mikel Arteta’s project, trusted him as a coach, and knew the Spaniard had a superb squad, highlighting Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka as two of the ‘top, top players’ within the team.
After winning three games, drawing two, and losing four in all competitions in the nine games leading up to the mid-season break, several Arsenal critics began to dismiss their chances for glory this season. The period after Christmas was a difficult moment for the Gunners, but Arteta and his team recovered after the mid-season break. Since the winter hiatus, the Gunners have won four consecutive games.
The fourth win was the resounding 6-0 victory over West Ham on Sunday. Much has been said about the win, which has seen fans and pundits reveal their real colors about how they feel about Arsenal. Fabrizio Romano is one pundit who couldn’t contain his enthusiasm for this Arsenal team.
In his Caught Offside Daily Brief column, the European transfer guru praised Arsenal and backed them to also do well in the Champions League. He praised Mikel Arteta and his team, with a specific mention of Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka, who were unstoppable in the victory over the Hammers.
In those six goals that were scored, Rice scored one and assisted two others, while Bukayo Saka scored twice (making it four goals in four games).
Fabrizio Romano on Arsenal
The European transfer guru said:
“I’m not surprised by Arsenal’s emphatic win at West Ham and their recent improvement in general; I was always backing Arsenal despite poor form in December.
“Their coach is great, the team is very good too, and I’m sure they will do very well in Champions League. For sure, to win 6-0 away from home like this is a big statement, showing how focused and hungry they are.
“You can’t help but be impressed by players like Rice or Saka or the others; now we know they are all top top players.”
It is clear Romano is a big fan of Arteta and Arsenal. With the quality available, the Gunners will be confident of putting together a string of wins as the Premier League title race heats up.
Arsenal appear to have turned a corner after the winter break; they are on a roll, and if they can keep it up, they should be right in the mix for the title at the end of the season.
