Arsenal are reportedly plotting a ‘sensational’ swoop for Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford, as per Football Insider.

The Gunners have been looking to bolster their frontline by signing a prolific forward. Several names have been mentioned as potential targets with Rashford now emerging as a serious option.

According to the report by Football Insider, the Man Utd star’s future at Old Trafford is currently uncertain following his off-field issues and Arsenal are keeping a close eye on this situation before making a potential swoop.

The report further claims that Mikel Arteta’s side are a long-term admirer of Rashford and they were even looking to secure his signature a couple of years ago. But, the forward eventually stayed at Old Trafford so a deal didn’t materialise.

However, Football Insider now states that with Arsenal looking to sign a new forward following Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah’s recent struggles, they could opt to reignite their interest in signing Rashford at the end of this campaign.

Rashford to Arsenal

The 26-year-old is a highly talented player and can play anywhere across the frontline. He is quick, strong, good in the air, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, can finish off his chances and also can create opportunities for fellow attackers.

With Rashford set to enter the peak of his career, it would be a great coup for Arsenal if they purchase him next summer. Having recently signed a new long-term deal, the forward – valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt – still has four and a half years left in his current contract. So, it is expected that Man Utd will demand a huge fee to sell their star man.

However, the forward has struggled to showcase consistency over the last few years and in addition, he lacks work-rate without possession. So, he might not be an ideal option for Arsenal to reinforce their frontline, especially given he is set to cost big.

But, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually opt to make a concrete approach to sign the Englishman to bolster their frontline at the end of this campaign.
