Arsenal keeping tabs on Turkish star Ferdi Kadioglu

By on November 8, 2023

Arsenal have reportedly been keeping a close eye on the development of Fenerbahce star Ferdi Kadioglu ahead of a potential swoop in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

After joining the Turkish side back in 2018, the 24-year-old has established himself as a key player of the Yellow Canaries in recent years, helping his side win the Turkish Cup last term.

So, it appears the defender’s recent impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed as Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.

Writing on Twitter, Sabuncuoglu has reported that the North London club have been monitoring the development of Kadioglu in recent times and they even sent scouts to watch him in action closely against Trabzonspor last weekend.

The journalist further claims that the Gunners’ scouts have been impressed by the Turkish’s displays and they have sent a positive report about the player to their recruitment team. So, they could opt to make a concrete approach to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

Sabuncuoglu wrote:

“Arsenal International Scout Chief Romain Poirot watched Ferdi Kadıoğlu in the Trabzonspor match and gave a positive report to the player.”

Kadioglu to Arsenal

The fullback – valued at around £15m by Transfermarkt – still has more than two and a half years left in his current contract. Therefore, Fenerbahce aren’t in any rush to sell their star man so the North London club will have to spend a sizable amount of money to sign the player if they opt to make a concrete approach next year.

Kadioglu is a versatile defender as he can play in either fullback position. He is quick, comfortable playing out from the back, can chip-in with some important goals, has the efficiency of creating opportunities for attackers and is also good in defensive contributions.

So, the Fenerbahce star could be a solid signing for Arsenal to reinforce their backline if they decide to purchase him next year. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Emirates club eventually opt to formalise their interest in signing the Turkish international in the upcoming transfer window.

Meanwhile, after back-to-back defeats against West Ham United and Newcastle United in all competitions, Arsenal will face off against Sevilla in the Champions League. They will be desperate to beat the Spanish side tonight and return to winning ways.
