Confirmed line-ups: Newcastle vs Arsenal – Jorginho & Havertz start
Arsenal can make a statement in the title race with a win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park this evening.
We’ve been dealt a major blow with the news that Martin Odegaard isn’t in the squad after aggravating a hip injury during his late cameo against West Ham in midweek.
Mikel Arteta has recalled his big guns after resting them in the EFL Cup defeat on Wednesday night. David Raya returns in goal so Aaron Ramsdale drops to the bench after his disappointing performance at the London Stadium.
Ben White keeps his place at right-back while Takehiro Tomiyasu comes in for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back. William Saliba is also recalled to start alongside Gabriel Magalhaes in the middle of defence so Jacob Kiwior makes way.
Thomas Partey remains out so Jorginho captains Arsenal this evening. Declan Rice is recalled to start in midfield alongside Kai Havertz.
Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli return to the starting eleven after being named on the bench in midweek. Eddie Nketiah leads the line up front so Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard drop to the bench.
These are the line-ups for the game:
