Arsenal could look to sign Ousmane Dembele in January

Arsenal could reportedly look to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembele in the upcoming transfer window, as per the Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After moving to the Parc des Princes this summer from Barcelona in a £43m deal, the Frenchman has endured a tough start to this season for Les Parisiens.

So, according to the report by Fichajes, the PSG hierarchy have already started to doubt their decision to sign the Frenchman and are planning to let him leave in the winter window.

The report further claims that Premier League clubs such as Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Dembele’s current situation and could make a move for him if an opportunity arises.

Fichajes also states that the Gunners are looking to sign a new right-winger to support Bukayo Saka and Dembele would be an ideal fit for them.

Dembele to Arsenal

However, the report says that purchasing Dembele won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Chelsea and Newcastle United are also plotting a swoop for him.

After joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a big money deal, Dembele struggled with injury problems during the first few years at Camp Nou but, it seems he has now overcome that issue. He showcased glimpses of his talent for the Blaugrana under Xavi Hernandez’s guidance before opting to join PSG at the start of this season.

Dembele has struggled to score goals this season, but he has played pretty well for PSG. He is a highly talented player and would be a great signing for Arsenal to strengthen their frontline.

However, the 26-year-old has previously been accused of having attitude issues and Mikel Arteta wouldn’t want to sign such players – who might disrupt the team spirit that he has managed to build over the last few years.

So, I think the North London club would be better off exploring other options to strengthen the frontline. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to formalise their interest in signing Dembele if PSG allow the forward to leave next year.

Meanwhile, having beaten Manchester City in the Premier League, Arsenal will face off against Chelsea after the international break. So, the Gunners will be hoping that they will be able to continue their momentum after the hiatus.
