Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Man City – Jorginho starts, Saka ruled out
Arsenal can make a real statement in the title race with a win over defending Premier League champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium this afternoon.
Unfortunately, we’ve been dealt a huge blow as Bukayo Saka has been ruled out with a hamstring injury that he sustained during Tuesday night’s 2-1 defeat to Lens in the Champions League. Gabriel Martinelli does return to the squad but is only fit enough for a place on the bench. Therefore, Gabriel Jesus starts out wide for Arsenal with Eddie Nketiah recalled to lead the line up front. Leandro Trossard keeps his place on the left flank.
There is a surprise in midfield too as Jorginho gets a rare Premier League start. Declan Rice also keeps his place with Martin Odegaard so Kai Havertz is the man to drop out this afternoon.
David Raya keeps his place in goal despite his error which led to Lens scoring their equaliser on Tuesday night. Ben White is recalled at right-back with Takehiro Tomiyasu making way while Gabriel and William Saliba start in the middle of Arsenal’s defence. Oleksandr Zinchenko starts at left-back.
Thomas Partey has to settle for a place on the bench alongside Emile Smith Rowe, Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson.
There are the line-ups:
Arsenal
Raya; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Jorginho, Rice, Ødegaard; Trossard, Nketiah, Jesus
Subs: Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, Kiwior, Partey, Smith Rowe, Vieira, Nelson, Martinelli, Havertz.
Man City

Subs: Ortega Moreno, Phillips, Stones, Grealish, Doku, Gomez, Akanji, Nunes, Bobb
