Arsenal launch bid to sign Josip Sutalo this summer

By on August 3, 2023

Arsenal have reportedly launched an opening proposal of more than €20m[£17m] to sign Dinamo Zagreb star Josip Sutalo this summer, as per the Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Gunners have been busy in this transfer window and have already purchased Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber by spending more than £200m in this transfer window.

However, it has been suggested that Arsenal won’t stop their transfer business just yet as Mikel Arteta wants to sign more players before the end of this window to strengthen the squad in order to bridge the gap with Manchester City.

It seems the goalkeeping department is an area that the Spanish boss is aiming to bolster before the start of next season and have identified David Raya as the priority target.

The Gunners boss is also seemingly planning to add more firepower to the backline having already purchased Timber with Sutalo emerging as a serious option in recent times.

Sutalo to Arsenal

According to the report by TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal have already submitted an opening proposal of more than €20m[£17m] to sign Sutalo and it has previously been reported that Dinamo Zagreb want a fee of around €25m[£21m] to sell their star man. So, it appears the Gunners are very close to matching Dinamo Zagreb’s asking price to acquire the Croatian’s service.

However, the report claims that several Italian clubs and Bundesliga sides are also plotting a swoop for him but it seems Arsenal are currently the front-runner ahead of them all to purchase the defender.

Sutalo has burst onto the scene after displaying promising performances for Dinamo Zagreb in recent times and the North Londoners will be hoping that he will be able to replicate the same performance in the Premier League if Arsenal eventually opt to sign him this summer.

However, the Gunners are currently well-stocked in their defensive department so I think it is highly unlikely that they will make a move for a new centre-back unless they cash-in on any of their options.

It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal eventually opt to purchase Sutalo in this transfer window to bolster their backline.
