Arsenal are reportedly set to receive an opening proposal from Inter Milan for Folarin Balogun, as per the transfer journalist Chris Wheatley.

The Gunners have been busy in this transfer window to strengthen the squad in order to challenge on all fronts from next season. They have already spent over £200m by signing Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber.

Mikel Arteta has recently made it clear that Arsenal won’t stop their spending spree just yet as they are looking to add more firepower to their squad before the end of this window.

However, it has been suggested that having splashed over £200m, Arsenal will now need to sell some players to raise funds before signing new faces this summer.

Several players have been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Balogun likely to generate the most fee for the North London club if he were to be sold.

Arsenal to sell Balogun

After joining Stade de Reims on a season-long loan deal last summer, Balogun enjoyed a stellar campaign last term, scoring 21 goals and registering two assists in 37 Ligue 1 appearances.

However, it has been suggested that despite the 22-year-old’s impressive performances for Reims, Arsenal are ready to cash-in on him this summer to make the most profit out of his sale as they can’t guarantee the forward regular game-time due to the presence of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.

Speaking on the NationalWorld TV YouTube channel, Wheatley has said that big clubs around Europe have started to express their interest in signing Balogun, including Inter.

The journalist further claims that the Nerazzurri are preparing to submit the opening proposal of an initial loan deal with an obligation to make the move permanent.

Wheatley also says that Inter want to offer a £4m loan fee plus a £30m proposal to get a deal done for Balogun. But, the financial package will fall way short of what Arsenal are asking as they reportedly want £50m.

Wheatley said:

“That interest is coming from some big clubs as well. Inter in Italy are really interested in signing him. The only issue there that I can see is the finances that they are currently weighing up that they’re going to offer Arsenal is not exactly what Arsenal are looking for.

“Now, the first bid that they are looking to prepare is a loan deal, but it’s going to be a loan deal with an obligation to buy. So, we expect a €5m [£4.3m] fee with an obligation to buy for €35m [£30m]. Now, that is not really a lot of money when you consider what Flo Balogun did in France last season.”

It is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal decide to sell their star man to Inter if they submit the proposal. It has recently been reported that Balogun has been training separately away from the first-team squad so, it seems the striker is edging closer toward departure in this transfer window.
