Arsenal keeping tabs on Gremio star Bitello
Arsenal have reportedly sent scouts to monitor the development of Gremio star Bitello ahead of a potential move, as per the Brazilian outlet Portal Do Gremista.
The Gunners have been busy in this transfer window and have already signed Kai Havertz from Chelsea. They are also on the verge of purchasing Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber to bolster their squad ahead of a crucial next season.
It has been suggested that Arsenal won’t stop their transfer businesses just yet as they are planning to sign at least two more players before the end of this window and Mikel Arteta wants to sign another midfield option after Rice.
Romeo Lavia has been mentioned as a primary target for the North London club and it has been reported that they have already opened formal talks with Southampton to acquire the youngster’s service.
However, the Saints have slapped a £45m price tag on the midfielder’s head and it has been suggested that Arsenal don’t want to meet Southampton’s valuation. In addition, Liverpool are also keen on signing the Belgian so it looks difficult for the North London club to purchase their key target.
Bitello to Arsenal
Therefore, it appears Arteta’s side have started to explore alternative targets if they fail to secure a deal for Lavia and have identified Bitello as a potential option.
According to the report by Portal Do Gremista, Arsenal have been showing an interest in Bitello and they have recently sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old closely ahead of a potential summer move.
The report further claims that Gremio have made it clear that they are not going to let their star man leave unless his potential suitors such as the Emirates club submit an offer of around £9m[€10m]. So, it appears Arsenal could manage to sign the midfielder for an affordable deal if they decide to formalise their interest.
However, the Brazilian outlet states that purchasing Bitello won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as AS Monaco have also registered their interest in signing the midfielder and have already submitted an opening proposal to secure his signature.
Bitello is a versatile midfielder – who can play anywhere across the middle of the park. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, has the ability to dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and also works hard without possession.
The 23-year-old is a talented midfielder and possesses high potential so he would be a solid signing for Arsenal if they opt to sign him in this transfer window.
