Arsenal lead race to sign Turkish starlet Arda Guler
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Fenerbahce youngster Arda Guler this summer, as per Turkish Football.
After making his senior debut last term, the 18-year-old has burst onto the scene in recent times having displayed eye-catching performances for the Yellow Canaries this campaign, scoring four goals and notching up three assists in 10 Super Lig starts.
The youngster’s impressive displays in the Turkish top-flight haven’t gone unnoticed as he has already attracted the attention of several big European clubs with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.
According to the report by Turkish Football, Arsenal have been showing a genuine interest in Guler and they are currently leading the race to purchase him this summer.
The report further claims that the North London club have already held talks with the player’s representatives over a potential summer move and Fenerbahce are ready to cash-in if Arsenal submit a lucrative proposal. So, it appears Arsenal would be able to broker a deal for Guler if they decide to formalise their interest.
Guler to Arsenal
However, Turkish Football states that Arsenal are set to face tough competition from Newcastle United in getting any potential deal done for Guler as the Magpies are also keen on purchasing the 18-year-old.
Guler – valued at around £9m by Transfermarkt – still has two years left in his current contract. So, it is going to be interesting to see how much Fenerbahce will demand to sell the forward if Mikel Arteta’s side opt to make a concrete approach this summer.
The youngster is a left-footed player – who likes to be deployed on the right flank. He is technically sound, quick, can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for long-range passing, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas and also can create chances for fellow attackers.
The Fenerbahce star is an extremely talented player and possesses the potential to become a world-class player going forward. So, he would be a great acquisition with a view to the long-term future if Arsenal manage to secure his signature. However, it remains to be seen whether Arteta’s side opt to sign Guler to bolster their attack in the upcoming transfer window.
