Moises Caicedo

Arsenal target Moises Caicedo has a ‘90%’ chance of leaving Brighton and Hove Albion in the upcoming transfer window, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Ecuadorian international as they identified the Brighton star as the primary target to bolster their midfield department last winter. Mikel Arteta’s side even submitted two official proposals worth up to £70m to acquire his services.

But the Seagulls were reluctant to let their star man leave and rejected both offers. So, a deal didn’t materialise and in the end, the youngster remained at the AMEX Stadium.

However, it has been suggested that Arsenal haven’t cooled down their interest in Caicedo and the South American is one of the names on Arteta’s wish-list to strengthen the engine room.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has said that Caicedo has a ‘90%’ chance of leaving Brighton this summer and Arsenal are looking to reignite their interest in order to finally sign the 21-year-old.

Caicedo to Arsenal

However, the journalist claims that Arsenal are set to face tough competition from London rival Chelsea in getting any potential deal done for Caicedo as they are also eyeing a move for him.

Romano said:

“Roberto De Zerbi has said that [Moises] Caicedo has a very good chance to leave the club. I would say 90%. For Caicedo, many clubs are interested, Arsenal are still there, many others are keeping an eye on the player. Chelsea have Caicedo in their list.”

It has widely been suggested that Arsenal are prioritising revamping their engine room this summer and they are looking to sign Declan Rice and Caicedo.

However, both midfielders like to be deployed in the deep-lying midfielder role and Arteta doesn’t play with a double midfield pivot. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal decide to sign Caicedo and Rice this summer having already got Jorginho and Thomas Partey.

Nevertheless, Caicedo is an extremely talented player and possesses the potential to become a world-class midfielder going forward. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to secure his signature at the end of this season and it has been suggested that the Gunners will need to shell out a fee of around £80m to purchase the South American this summer.

Valued at £70 million because he doesn’t score of create goals, he’s basicly a defender that can pass the ball, not a game winning player, so £70 million is about right. Yes he will help save you conceding goals but I would rather buy Kim Min-iae for £65 million, a world class defender for less money.
