Arsenal preparing huge bid to sign Rice this summer
Arsenal are reportedly ready to accelerate their efforts to sign West Ham United ace Declan Rice this summer, as per recent reports.
It has widely been suggested that the Gunners are keen on strengthening their squad in the upcoming transfer window and bolstering the engine room is high on Mikel Arteta’s to-do list. They have been linked with numerous options over the last few months but Rice has continuously been mentioned as Arsenal’s primary target.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has said that Arsenal are preparing to step up their efforts to sign Rice and are expected to submit an official proposal over the coming weeks. On the other hand, The Telegraph have backed the Italian journalist’s report and added that Arteta’s side are putting together a whopping £92m bid to acquire the Englishman’s service.
West Ham have always said that they want more than £100m to sell Rice this summer so the reported £92m fee is a bit short of the Hammers’ valuation.
Rice to Arsenal
It remains to be seen whether West Ham play hardball to sell their star man or accept the Gunners’ opening proposal and let Rice leave.
It has been suggested that the 24-year-old is keen on taking the next step in his career and wants to play Champions League football next season.
Rice has been displaying promising performances over the last few years and is now deemed one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. So, signing a talent like him would be a great coup for Arsenal if they manage to get a deal done at the end of this season.
It seems if Arsenal manage to purchase Rice then he will become Arsenal’s record signing. Nicolas Pepe – who moved to the Emirates Stadium for a fee of around £72m – currently holds that record.
Unfortunately, Pepe’s signing didn’t work out well for Arsenal but the North Londoners will be hoping things will be different this time around and Rice’s transfer will turn out to be a success should he eventually ends up joining the club at the end of this season.
