Arsenal are reportedly looking to accelerate their efforts to sign Athletico Paranaenses forward Vitor Roque this summer, as per the Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo.

After displaying promising performances in the Brazil top-flight in recent times, the 18-year-old has already attracted the attention of several big European clubs ahead of the summer window with Arsenal among those to have registered their interest.

The Gunners have been keeping a close eye on the Brazilian market over the last few years and have signed Gabriel Martinelli and Marquinhos in recent times. Martinelli has turned out to be a great acquisition as he has managed to establish himself as a pivotal member of Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven, helping Arsenal in their quest of winning the league title this season.

Following their recent transfer success, it appears the North London club have decided to continue their search to find promising young talents in Brazil and Roque has emerged as a serious target for Arsenal.

Roque to Arsenal

According to the report by Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal have been ‘pushing hard’ to sign Roque and are well-positioned to get a deal done at the end of this season.

However, the report claims that the North London club are set to face tough competition from Chelsea and Barcelona in getting any potential deal done for the 18-year-old as they are also keen on signing him.

Fabrizio Romano has recently reported that Roque is ready to move away from Athletico Paranaenses and is expected to choose his next club before the summer window.

It has previously been reported that Athletico Paranaenses want £44m to let their star man – who still has more than four years left in his current contract – leave this summer. So, Arsenal will have to spend big to purchase Roque if they opt to formalise their interest.

Roque is an extremely talented striker and possesses the potential to become a world-class player going forward. So, he would be a shrewd signing for Arsenal with the view of a long-term future should they win the race for his signature.
