Arsenal eyeing swoop for Bundesliga star Florian Neuhaus

By on April 14, 2023

Arsenal have reportedly been keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus ahead of a possible summer move, as per 90min.

Despite purchasing Jorginho on deadline day this winter, it has widely been suggested that the Gunners have been exploring the possibility of strengthening their engine room this summer.

Several players have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent times with Declan Rice being mentioned as their primary target, but Neuhaus is now emerging as a potential option.

The 26-year-old – valued at around £13m by Transfermarkt – has entered the final 15 months of his current contract but hasn’t signed an extension with the German club yet. So, if the midfielder doesn’t commit his future with the Foals over the coming months then they could look to cash-in before his price decreases.

It appears Arsenal are looking to take advantage of this season and sign Neuhaus in a cut-price deal to strengthen their engine room during the off-season.

Neuhaus to Arsenal

According to the report by 90min, Neuhaus’ representatives have already started to explore options in the market to take his client away from Borussia-Park this summer.

The report further claims that Arsenal have scouted the German midfielder in recent times and will continue to keep an eye on him but, Neuhaus isn’t the priority target for Arteta at the moment.

However, things could change over the coming months if the Gunners are unable to broker a deal for their top midfield target, Rice. West Ham have already made it clear that they don’t want to sell their biggest asset for anything less than £100m.

But, it has also been suggested that Arsenal will not match the Hammers’ asking price to sign Rice. So, the Emirates club will have to shift their focus to alternative targets should they fail to secure the Englishman’s signature and in that case, Neuhaus could emerge as a serious target.

However, 90min claims that signing Neuhaus won’t be easy for Arsenal as English rivals Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United are also pondering a summer swoop for him.

The Gladbach star is an extremely talented player and would be an ideal option to play in Arteta’s possession-based style of football. However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal will formalise their interest in signing the German international at the end of this season.
