Arsenal weighing up a summer move for Michael Olise

By on April 13, 2023

Arsenal are reportedly showing an interest in signing Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise in the upcoming summer window, as per Football Transfers.

The 21-year-old joined the Eagles during the summer of 2021 from Reading for a fee of around £8m. After a promising debut campaign at Selhurst Park, the youngster has been enjoying a brilliant season this term, scoring two goals and registering eight assists in 12 Premier League starts.

According to the report by Football Transfers, Arsenal have already registered their interest in signing Olise ahead of the summer window after being impressed by his displays for Palace this season.

The report further claims that Mikel Arteta is a ‘big fan’ of Olise and the Gunners boss believes the Palace man would be an ideal addition to support Bukayo Saka.

Football Transfers also states that the South London club are in no rush to let their star man leave this summer as Olise still has more than three years left in his current contract. But, if they are forced to cash-in then they may demand a fee of around £40m.

Olise to Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly been looking to sign a new right-winger to support Saka. But, despite being linked with numerous targets, they didn’t sign anyone over the last two transfer windows.

Leandro Trossard was purchased to strengthen their attack this winter and he was deployed on the right flank against Leeds United to give Saka a breather. But, he is a left-winger by trait so signing a new left-footed right-sided attacker would be the correct decision and Olise could be a shrewd signing.

The 21-year-old is quick, strong, can dribble past the opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to create chances for fellow attackers, can finish off his chances and is also brilliant in taking set-pieces.

The Frenchman is an extremely talented player and possesses the potential to become a world-class winger going forward. So, he would certainly strengthen the Gunners’ attack if they manage to secure his signature at the end of this season.

However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal opt to make a formal approach to sign the Crystal Palace man if the Gunners decide to strengthen their right-wing position at the end of this season.
