Barcelona reduce price tag of Arsenal target Ferran Torres

Ferran-Torres

Barcelona have reportedly decided to reduce the valuation of Arsenal target Ferran Torres, as per the Spanish outlet, Sport.

The 23-year-old joined the Blaugrana last year from Manchester City for a fee of around £48m, though has struggled to showcase his best at Camp Nou since the switch. And as a consequence of that, the forward has struggled to find regular game-time.

However, the Spaniard has been in Xavi Hernandez’s starting eleven in recent weeks amid Robert Lewandowski’s injury absence and has been showcasing glimpses of his talent.

It has been reported that the Gunners are looking to strengthen their squad for next season and adding reinforcement in the attacking department is on Mikel Arteta’s agenda. Torres has previously been mentioned as a potential target for Arsenal and they could now reignite their interest in signing him at the end of this season.

It was thought that Barcelona value the Spaniard more than £48m as they signed him for that sum just 12 months ago and he still has four and a half years left in his current contract.

Torres to Arsenal

However, according to the report by Sport, Barcelona want a fee of around £31m to let Torres leave amid their financial difficulties.

Although Torres has failed to impress at Camp Nou since joining the club, the forward is still an extremely talented player and possesses high potential. The forward is quick, good in the air, can dribble past the opposition defenders in tight areas, has the ability to create chances and also has an eye for scoring goals.

So, he would be a great signing for Arsenal if they could manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium. In addition, Arteta likes to purchase versatile players who can play multiple positions and Torres is an ideal option as he can play anywhere across the front line.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether Arsenal will make a concrete approach to sign Torres at the end of this season. And if they were to get this deal done for the reported £31m fee then that would be an absolute bargain.

He would be perfect to play against the low blocking teams due to his right dribbling skills. Not sure if he is consistent for the 90 minutes energy level of the premiership. He seems like a good false No. 9. I would like to see him as a loan with an option to buy if Arsenal are willing to take a chance on him.Out of form at the moment his stats would suggest. It’s a gamble.
