Arsenal are reportedly keeping a close eye on Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi, as per The Guardian.

The 22-year-old came through the Blues’ academy before making his senior debut back in 2018. The winger was deemed one of the best young talents in world football a few years ago but injury problems have hampered his development.

After failing to impress at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons, he has been shifted out on loan at the Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen this term. However, he hasn’t been able to perform at his best at the BayArena so far this campaign, providing just 1 goal and 1 assist in 17 appearances.

According to the report by The Guardian, having made 17 acquisitions over the last two windows, Chelsea are currently looking to offload their fringe players over the coming months.

The report further claims that Hudson-Oldoi is one of the players who will be shown the exit door in the summer after returning from his loan stint. The Guardian says that Arsenal are showing an interest in signing the Englishman and are currently monitoring his situation ahead of a possible summer swoop.

Hudson-Odoi to Arsenal

It has come as a big surprise that Arsenal are linked with a move for Hudson-Odoi. The youngster started his career with great promise, but he hasn’t been able to blossom over the last few years. However, he is still young and has plenty of time to turn his fortune around and reach his full potential.

The forward can play anywhere across the attacking midfield positions, so he would provide depth to the Gunners’ attacking department if he were to join the club.

The 22-year-old – valued at around £22m by Transfermarkt – will enter the final 12 months of his current contract with Chelsea in the summer. So, he is expected to be available for an affordable price at the end of the season.

Despite being a direct rival, Arsenal have done business with Chelsea over the years and snapped up Jorginho from the Blues on deadline day. So, there is no reason to think Chelsea won’t be willing to sell Hudson-Odoi to the Gunners if they formalise their interest in the attacker.
