Arsenal target Marcus Thuram is reportedly ready to leave Borussia Monchengladbach for free at the end of this campaign, as per the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 25-year-old’s current deal with Daniel Farke’s side is set to expire at the end of this season and it appears the striker is not going to prolong his future at Borussia-Park beyond this term.

A recent report stated that Mikel Arteta’s side have been showing interest in signing the Frenchman and along with the north London club, Aston Villa, Everton, AC Milan and Atlético Madrid are all eyeing a move for the Borussia Monchengladbach man.

Writing on CaughtOffside, Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that Thuram could leave Borussia-Park for free at the end of this season and that ‘he’ll consider all the options’ before deciding his future.

The journalist further states that many teams might try to sign the Frenchman next summer as he would be available for free, but didn’t mention any club’s name.

Marcus Thuram to Arsenal

Fabrizio Romano said:

“I think there will be many rumours around Thuram as he’s good player available as potential free agent in the summer. I’m told he could really leave on a free transfer, so he’ll consider all options in the next months.”

Arsenal appear to be keen on strengthening their forward line in January and they should make a move for Thuram this winter rather than waiting for him to become a free agent next summer due to the fact that the competition – to sign the striker – is expected to be less this winter.

The France international is valued at around £30m by Transfermarkt and his current deal will expire at the end of this campaign so, he should be available for a cut-price fee this January and would be a feasible option for the Gunners to bolster their attacking department.

Thuram can play anywhere across the front line and his versatility could be an asset for Arteta. Thuram is quick, strong, good in the air and can finish off his chances, so, he would be an excellent acquisition for Arsenal if the club’s hierarchy manage to get this deal over the line.

It will be interesting to see who Arteta’s preferred option would be to strengthen the forward line this January. Arsenal have already been linked with several players ahead of the winter window, while Mykhaylo Mudryk has been touted as the priority target. However, Thuram could be a good cheap alternative to the Ukrainian international.
