Confirmed line-ups: Arsenal vs Brighton – Saliba starts, Hein makes debut
Arsenal are in League Cup action tonight as we take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Emirates Stadium in the third round.
As expected, Mikel Arteta has made sweeping changes to his usual starting eleven. Karl Hein is handed his debut in goal so Matt Turner has to settle for a place on the bench. Aaron Ramsdale gets a rest while Rob Holding also comes back into the Arsenal defence this evening.
William Saliba is the only player to keep his place from the team that beat Chelsea so Gabriel gets a rest. Kieran Tierney comes in for Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back while Cedric Soares gets a rare start at right-back with Takehiro Tomiyasu out injured.
Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka have been given well-earned rests ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wolves so Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny are recalled to start in midfield for Arsenal tonight.
Martin Odegaard is given a breather so Fabio Vieira comes in to the attacking midfield role. Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are also rested so Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah come in to start in attack.
Marquinhos gets another chance to impress on the wing as Gabriel Martinelli drops to the bench. Ben White is also on the bench along with Partey, Gabriel, Odegaard, Jesus, Xhaka and Zinchenko.
These are the teams for the game:
Arsenal
Hein, Cedric, Saliba, Holding, Tierney, Elneny, Lokonga, Vieira, Marquinhos, Nelson, Nketiah
