Arsenal are reportedly in contact with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign talented winger Mychajlo Mudryk on deadline day, according to various reports.

The Gunners have been looking to sign a new wide attacker throughout this summer transfer window. Wolves star Pedro Neto was thought to be their priority target to strengthen the flanks this summer, while the Ukrainian has emerged as a new potential target for the north London club in recent days.

It looks like Arsenal have stepped-up their interest as FIFA reporter Abdellah Boulma has stated that Arsenal are locked in negotiations to sign Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Boulma says the Gunners have offered a five-year contract to the player and could agree a deal with the Ukrainian giants worth around €30m (£26m). Boulma said:

“As already mentioned, the coveted Mykhaïlo #Moudryk 🇺🇦 is in negotiations for an arrival at Arsenal. Transfer of around 30 million euros. 5-year contract was offered to the player.”

Journalist Rudy Galetti also claims Mikel Arteta’s side are in contact with the Ukrainian giants regarding a potential transfer of Mudryk, while the 21-year-old is pushing to join the Emirates Stadium.

The journalist further claims that Shakhtar don’t want to sell their star man for a cut-price deal and Arsenal want to include ‘rich’ variables to match the Ukrainian side’s asking price.

Galetti said:

“#Mudryk-#Arsenal, despite the last rumors, talks are on and ongoing with #Shakhtar. The player is pushing for the move. Now the focus is on the figure: the Ukrainian club won’t make discount, #AFC are willing to include a “rich” variable. Evolving situation.

So, it will be interesting to see whether Arsenal can manage to secure a deal for Mudryk before the transfer window closes at 11pm. The Gunners should sign a new winger as they only have Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka in their squad at the moment and they can’t play every game this term.

Therefore, signing a new winger is an absolute necessity for Arsenal and they can’t afford to end their transfer business without adding more options to their forward line.
