Arsenal could reportedly make a late move for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, as per the transfer Insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners appear to be keen on adding more options to their midfield department before the transfer window slams shut. Youri Tielemans has been widely touted as their priority target to strengthen the middle of the park but Melo has now emerged as a potential alternative to the Leicester man. Mikel Arteta’s side were linked with a move for the 26-year-old last January, however, a deal never materialised.

Melo has been struggling to find regular first-team action since joining the Bianconeri back in 2020. He has fallen way down in the pecking order at the Allianz Stadium in recent times and hasn’t featured in any of the games for the Old Lady of Turin this term due to fitness issues.

Speaking on the Done Deal Show, Dean Jones has stated that Tielemans to Arsenal is still on the cards and £25m could be the potential fee to get this deal over the line. But, financially securing a deal for Arthur would be much easier for the club.

The journalist further claims that the Brazilian’s ‘agents have been touting’ the player around the Premier League and the north London club could be one of them. Arteta’s side have been following the midfielder for a while, so, the 26-year-old might potentially turn out to be an option late in the window if they could not engineer a move for Tielemans.

Arthur to Arsenal

Jones said:

“Tielemans you could get for £25m from what I hear, and that’s still on the table. The thing I’ve heard today is that Arthur’s agents have been touting him around the Premier League again. Everton have been linked, but there are other clubs too and it wouldn’t surprise me if Arsenal were one of those.

“Arsenal have been considering Arthur for a while, in terms of finances it’s much easier to do than Tielemans, it’s basically nothing and that’s one that we should keep in mind as an option for Arsenal.”

Arthur could be a very good acquisition for Arsenal as they need a midfielder and the South American could fill the void during Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elneny or Granit Xhaka’s absence.

However, the Brazilian wouldn’t be an upgrade to what they currently have in their squad. So, Tielemans would be a better option for the north London club.

Following the injuries to Mohamed Elneny and Partey, Arsenal desperately need to sign a new midfielder as the Spanish boss currently doesn’t have many quality backup options at his disposal.

Therefore, signing a new midfielder has become even more of a necessity for Arsenal. The north London club should go for Tielemans over Arthur and pay Leicester’s asking price to get that deal over the line before tomorrow’s deadline.

The endless Arthur Melo pimping continues. This guy is not good enough for Arsenal, but seems he has friends in the blogosphere who keep associating him to arsenal.

    Jeeze, this is pathetic
