Arsenal tipped to bid for £30m star – can he be the difference?
Arsenal are being tipped to launch a bid to sign Youri Tielemans and the £30m-rated Belgian international could be the final piece in the jigsaw for Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners boss has had a solid summer window so far. He’s secured his top target in Gabriel Jesus and the Brazilian hitman is already proving how much difference a proper striker will make to this Arsenal team.
Jesus netted a hat-trick against Sevilla at the weekend to take his tally to 7 goals in 5 pre-season games. The 25-year-old has fitted seamlessly into the side since arriving from Manchester City and he should prove to be an excellent signing for Arsenal.
Olek Zinchenko is another top class addition to the squad, having arrived in a £35m move from Man City last month. The Ukrainian will provide stiff competition for the injury-plagued Kieran Tierney at left-back and he’ll also provide cover in midfield if needed. Zinchenko will be a big upgrade on Nuno Tavares, that’s for sure.
Despite these two excellent signings, Arsenal are still priced as 2/1 outsiders by the likes of fr.crazyvegas.com to finish in the top four this coming season. Even Manchester United – who finished well behind the Gunners last season and are rebuilding under new boss Erik ten Hag – are tipped to finish above Arsenal.
Tielemans the difference?
However, Arteta is still in the market for further reinforcements and a new central midfielder is the priority. Tielemans has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and it looks like Arsenal are set to finally make their move.
Reports claim Leicester are expecting Arsenal to make a formal approach for Tielemans over the coming weeks, with the Foxes hoping to cash-in for around £30m. The Gunners may try to drive that price down to nearer £25m but anything in that region would be an excellent deal.
If Arsenal could land Tielemans, sites like stellarspins would no doubt lower their odds on them finishing in the top four as Arteta would have a complete squad at his disposal. Central midfield has been a problem area for Arsenal in recent years but Tielemans could be the answer to their problems.
The Belgian has bags of Premier League experience and has his best years ahead of him. The 25-year-old would add a spark of creativity going forward from deep that’s perhaps been missing recently, so we think he’d be an excellent signing for the Gunners.
Arteta may try to also bring in another winger if they can offload Nicolas Pepe, so the Arsenal squad could be in superb shape by the time the transfer window closes, and many will kick themselves for not jumping on those 2/1 odds when they had the chance.
