Fabrizio Romano: Gabriel Jesus is ‘about to join Arsenal’

Fabrizio Romano claims that Gabriel Jesus is ‘about to join Arsenal’ with the Gunners thrashing out the final details of his transfer from Manchester City.

Gabriel has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer after Mikel Arteta identified the South American as his prime striker target.

Alexandre Lacazette has left Arsenal to join Lyon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was allowed to join Barcelona in January. Eddie Nketiah has signed a new contract but he’s our only recognised senior striker on the books.

Therefore, Arsenal need to bring in at least one striker this summer and we’ve been locked in negotiations with Man City over a deal for Jesus after it became apparent he was keen to leave the Premier League champions.

The 25-year-old knows he’s fallen down the pecking order following the arrival of Erling Haaland so he wants to leave in search of regular first team football – something Arsenal can offer him.

The Evening Standard reported recently that Jesus’ agents were heading to London to try and push through a deal, with Arsenal ready to submit a fresh offer which would be closer to City’s £50m asking price.

‘About to join Arsenal’

The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham and more recently PSG have also been linked with Jesus. However, Fabrizio Romano claims that PSG haven’t stepped-up their interest because they know the striker is ‘about to join Arsenal’.

Romano says negotiations are at a ‘very advanced’ stage with Arsenal trying to finalise the final details in order to get the deal wrapped-up as soon as possible.

Romano told Wettfreunde.net:

“I think they [PSG] just look at the situation knowing that Gabriel is about to join Arsenal.”

But I’m absolutely certain that Arsenal are the front runner with Gabriel, they were very advanced in their talks. So you have it in your own hands. If they wanted to, agreement would be a matter of hours or at least days. They are in the final exchange, but they still have to negotiate key points.”

They’re negotiating with Man City right now, they’re negotiating with the player’s agents. I was told that the negotiations are already very advanced. As we speak here they are trying to clarify some details regarding the contract, salary and agent. I’m sure Arsenal will try to get things done as soon as possible.”

So it looks as though Arsenal are closing-in on a deal to sign Jesus and I think he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad. Obviously he’s not the prolific goalscorer that many fans wanted to see, but he’s a quality player who should thrive when he’s backed to be the main striker at Arsenal.

The Brazilian international is also one of the hardest working forwards in the game so he’ll fit perfectly into the style of play Arteta is looking for.

Edu should also add Teilemans. We need full options on every aspect. A lot of games to play. Nobody would cry

History has shown that the more time taken by arsenal in completing a deal to sign a player, the more chance of failing to sign that player. This disappoints the fun so much in most cases, Edu, why delay in signing Jesus?
