According to reports via the Express, Arsenal are eyeing an audacious move to re-sign Serge Gnabry and the Bayern Munich attacker is seemingly open to the idea of a switch back to North London.

It’s gearing up to be another busy summer at Arsenal. We desperately need to strengthen the squad as we currently don’t have the numbers to cope with all the added Europa League games next season.

Attack is a priority area of concern as Mikel Arteta already has the youngest frontline in the Premier League and Alexandre Lacazette is set to depart when his contract expires next month.

Nicolas Pepe is also tipped to leave after struggling to hold down a regular place and we let Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang go in January without signing a replacement, so Arsenal clearly need to bring in some attackers this summer.

We’ve been linked with a number of players in recent weeks but Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk claimed today that Arsenal are eyeing a surprise move to re-sign Gnabry from Bayern Munich.

Falk suggests that Gnabry can ‘imagine’ moving back to the Gunners, however, any potential move will be difficult this summer after we failed to book our place in the Champions League next season.

Instead, Falk suggests that Arsenal may need to wait until the summer of 2023 to re-sign Gnabry on a free transfer when his contract at the Allianz Arena runs out.

It would obviously be a sensational move if we could somehow lure Gnabry back to north London. I was gutted when he left us in 2016 as it was clear he would develop into a top class attacker.

The 26-year-old is now one of the best forwards in the Bundesliga and would be a terrific addition to Arteta’s squad. The German international has scored 63 goals in 170 appearances for Munich and can play anywhere across the front line.

He spent five years at Arsenal so has a close affiliation with the club, which will give us hope of winning the race for his signature. Gnabry is reportedly refusing to sign a new deal at Bayern so the German giants may want to cash-in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing in 12 months time.

The forward is valued at £63m by Transfermarkt and Arsenal would hope to negotiate a lower fee this summer given his contract situation. On the flip side, Gnabry would be a sensational signing if we could land him on a free next year.

I hope Arsenal go all-out to try and land Gnabry and ideally we’d get him this summer due to our need for attacking reinforcements, however, I really don’t see him coming to us without guaranteed Champions League football.

My mom is more likely to play for Arsenal than Serge Gnabry. Arsenal cannot afford him, Bukayo Saka owns right wing, and why would any player in their right mind leave Bayern Munich, a near-certain title, and Champions league football for a fifth place Europa League squad?
