Arsenal handed triple injury boost ahead of Leeds
Arsenal have been handed a huge triple injury boost with Ben White, Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu all set to face Leeds United this weekend.
We welcome Leeds to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to cement our position in the top four and Mikel Arteta has offered a team news update ahead of the game.
White was forced to miss Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over West Ham last week after suffering a hamstring injury against Man Utd a few days before our trip to the London Stadium.
However, White is back in training and Arteta says as long as the centre-back trains as normal on Saturday, he’ll be fit and available for selection against Leeds on Sunday.
The Arsenal boss also said ‘the rest should be okay’, which suggests that Saka and Tomiyasu are available this weekend. Saka has been carrying a thigh injury recently and limped out of the win over West Ham last week.
Tomiyasu has only just returned from a serious calf problem and fans feared he had suffered a setback after limping off at the London Stadium clutching his calf area.
It looked like Saka and Tomiyasu could be doubts to face Leeds, but Arteta appears to have played down those fears by suggesting they are fit to face Leeds on Sunday.
Speaking at his press conference today, the Spaniard told Arsenal.com:
on Ben White…
Ben White is still in contention so he needs to train tomorrow to make sure that he’s available to playon the rest of the squad…
For the rest, there’s no news, everybody should be okay.
Obviously it’s a huge relief that Saka and Tomiyasu aren’t injured, while it’s also good to see White making a swift recovery. They are three key players are we need them fit for the final four games of the season.
Arsenal are two points ahead of Tottenham in fourth, and with Spurs facing a tough trip to Liverpool on Saturday, we could have the opportunity to move five points clear with a win on Sunday.
