Mikel Arteta has provided a team news and injury update ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Thursday night.

Speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning, Arteta offered news on Bukayo Saka and confirmed the winger is still a doubt for the game tomorrow.

Saka was forced off shortly after opening the scoring during Arsenal’s win over Newcastle on Saturday after picking up a muscle issue. Arteta says he’s hopeful the England international will be able to feature against Man Utd but at the moment they aren’t sure about his availability.

Arsenal will certainly be without Granit Xhaka for the trip to Old Trafford as the midfielder is still working his way back from a knee injury that he sustained against Tottenham in late September.

Xhaka is doing light individual training and may resume full training later this month but for now he remains on the sidelines along with Sead Kolasinac – who’s nursing an ankle injury.

Arteta told reporters today:

“Granit is still not ready. Kolasinac is still not ready. We have a doubt with Bukayo and a few other knocks we had from Newcastle. I am hopeful [for Bukayo] but we don’t know.”

It would be a major blow for Arsenal if Saka is ruled out of the game tomorrow night so let’s pray he passes a late fitness test and is able to line-up against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

If Saka is unavailable then Gabriel Martinelli should come into the starting eleven after scoring off the bench against Newcastle at the weekend.  Thankfully we have no other serious injury concerns to worry about so the squad is in good health.

Arsenal head to Old Trafford sitting level on points with West Ham in fourth position in the table so we can keep up the pressure with a win over United.
