Arsenal have been handed a major injury boost with Thomas Partey declared fit and available for Saturday evening’s Premier League trip to Liverpool.

Partey missed Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Watford two weeks ago due to a groin injury and was subsequently ruled out of Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers during the international break.

Mikel Arteta has been sweating over the 28-year-old’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s huge clash with Liverpool but Partey has made good progress in his recovery during the past couple of weeks.

Arsenal provided a team news update this evening and confirmed that all first team players are fit and available for selection this weekend with the exception of Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac.

The news on Partey’s fitness will come as a huge boost to Arteta as the boss prepares for a daunting trip to Merseyside to face a tough Liverpool team – who we have a terrible recent record against.

Big boost

Partey has been a key player for Arsenal this season – particularly since Xhaka was ruled out – and has played a vital role in our 10-game unbeaten run so it’s great that he’ll be available on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Xhaka has been doing light running outside as he steps-up his rehabilitation from a serious knee injury that he sustained during Arsenal’s NLD victory over Tottenham in September but he won’t be back until next year.

Kolasinac on the other hand has been ruled out of the Liverpool game this weekend after picking up an ankle injury while playing for Bosnia and Herzegovina last week.

It seems, according to the team news update on Arsenal.com, that Folarin Balogun is fit despite being forced off with a stomach bug while playing for the England U21’s earlier this week. However, the youngster is unlikely to be involved against Liverpool.

So Arteta has a very healthy squad to choose from this weekend as Arsenal look to leapfrog Liverpool into the top four with a win at Anfield.
