[Player ratings & video highlights] Leicester 0-2 Arsenal: Ramsdale & Gabriel star

By on October 30, 2021

Arsenal produced another excellent display to beat Leicester City 2-0 at the King Power Stadium this afternoon with Aaron Ramsdale the hero for the visitors.

We started well and opened the scoring in the 5th minute when Gabriel flicked home a header from a pin-point Bukayo Saka corner. Arsenal continued to dominate and doubled their lead in the 18th minute when Emile Smith Rowe tucked home after a break away.

Leicester grew into the game but were up against an inspired Aaron Ramsdale who produced several top class saves to keep the hosts at bay and ensure Arsenal went away with a vital three points.

Here are my ratings:

Ramsdale  9/10 | Outstanding performance. Stunning save to deny Maddison from a free-kick just before half-time. Another superb save from a Lookman effort after the break before denying Barnes shortly after. MOTM

Tomiyasu  7/10 | Another solid display. Made several blocks and did well against a lively Leicester attack.

White  7/10 | Did an excellent job at keeping Vardy relatively quiet and was very good in possession. Glad he was passed fit to start.

Gabriel  8/10 | Dominant at the back and a superb header opened the scoring early on. Growing into a vital player for Arsenal.

Tavares  7/10 | In for the injured Tierney and impressed again. Always a threat going forward and decent enough defensively.

Lokonga  7/10 | Good performance from the Belgium youngster. Tidy in possession and kept his discipline positionally.

Partey  7.5/10 | Looks more comfortable playing in a two-man midfield and was excellent again today. Passed well and helped create the second goal.

Saka  7/10 | Lovely corner set-up Gabriel’s opening goal and played his part in the second. Very lively in the first half but faded as Arsenal went more defensive after the break to protect our lead.

Smith Rowe  7.5/10 | Composed finish to double Arsenal’s advantage and make it four goals in seven games for the youngster. Always involved in our attacking play.

Lacazette  6/10 | Worked hard and was involved in the second goal but tired after the break before being replaced by Odegaard.

Aubameyang  6.5/10 | Almost made it 3-0 with a far post shot that was well saved. Lead the line well and was denied a clear run at goal after being hauled down by Evans – who somehow escaped with only a yellow card.

Subs:

Odegaard   6.5/10 | Positive impact off the bench from the Norwegian.

Pepe   N/A | One too late.

Kolasinac   N/A | On too late.
