[Image] Odegaard out, key duo fit, 9 changes: My Arsenal line-up vs Leicester

By on October 29, 2021

Arsenal face a tough trip to the King Power to take on Leicester City on Saturday lunchtime. This is the line-up I’d like to see Mikel Arteta select for the match…

Aaron Ramsdale is Arsenal’s No.1 and was rested for the Carabao Cup win over Leeds United on Tuesday night. Bernd Leno kept a clean sheet in that game but he’ll drop to the bench tomorrow with Ramsdale returning in goal.

Arteta will make a late decision over Ben White after he was forced off against Leeds due to a sickness bug that’s going around the club. White will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness and I think he’ll be alright to start in defence.

Alongside White should be Gabriel with the Brazilian returning from his rest in midweek. Pablo Mari is a doubt due to illness but Rob Holding and Calum Chambers will be options from the bench.

Arsenal will also have to assess the fitness of Kieran Tierney as he’s missed the last two games with an ankle injury. He’s progressed in training this week so I think we’ll see Tierney return at left-back with Sead Kolasinac dropping out. If the Scot isn’t fit, then Nuno Tavares should start as he was terrific against Villa.

No Odegaard or Pepe

Takehiro Tomiyasu should return at right-back with Cedric Soares making way while we’ll also see changes in midfield with Mo Elneny and Ainsley Maitland-Niles dropping out after their appearances in the League Cup. Thomas Partey and Sambi Lokonga should start in the middle of the park with Granit Xhaka injured.

Bukayo Saka will return after being rested against Leeds and Emile Smith Rowe should keep his place so Gabriel Martinelli and Nicolas Pepe may have to settle for places among the Arsenal substitutes tomorrow.

Martin Odegaard is a doubt after missing the Leeds win but I’d like to see Alexandre Lacazette starting even if the Norwegian is fit as he was superb during the win over Aston Villa last time out in the Premier League. Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang should lead the line up front for Arsenal with Eddie Nketiah dropping out despite scoring in midweek.

Here is the side I hope we see:
