According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal have finally agreed a £50m deal with Brighton to sign Ben White while a £15m deal for Albert Lokonga is also set to be announced.

We’ve been chasing White all summer after Mikel Arteta made the 23-year-old his prime transfer target. The boss needs to bring in a right-sided centre-back after David Luiz left when his contract expired last month and White’s the man he wants.

It’s been tough negotiating with Brighton as they’ve held firm in their valuation. Arsenal have seen two previous offers rejected but Sky Sports News says we’ve finally agreed to meet their £50m asking price.

The deal has now been agreed between the two clubs but we’ll still have to wait a little longer before White can complete his move. That’s because he’s currently on holiday following his exploits with England at Euro 2020.

However, Sky Sports News says White will undergo his medical tests with Arsenal and finalise his move to north London when he returns from holiday on July 26th.  Personal terms have also reportedly been agreed with the defender so this move looks to be a done deal, pending any issues with his medical.

White should be a terrific addition to the squad. I still think the £50m could have been put to better use as Arsenal desperately need to bring in a top class midfielder and No.10, but that aside I’m delighted with the purchase of White as he’s one of the best young talents in British football.

Lokonga also done

Arsenal are also about to sign another top young talent from Belgium as Sky Sports says a £15m deal for Anderlecht’s Albert Lokonga is on the verge of being announced.

We’ve been chasing the 21-year-old all summer and agreed terms with Anderlecht earlier this month. Lokonga flew in to the UK but has been forced to quarantine due to UK Government guidelines.

Sky Sports says Lokonga is scheduled to undergo his medical when he’s released from isolation before signing a long-term contract and being officially unveiled as an Arsenal player.

The 21-year-old is highly-rated in Belgium and is known for his excellent passing ability so hopefully he can continue to develop under Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.

So it looks like Arsenal are about to wrap-up two exciting signings for £65m, taking our summer spending past £70m following the arrival of Nuno Tavares from Benfica.
