According to CalcioMercato, Aaron Ramsey has decided he wants to seal a sensational return to Arsenal as Juventus desperately try to offload the midfielder this summer.

Ramsey forged a reputation as one of the best all-round midfield players in Britain during his 11-year stay at Arsenal and he scored 65 goals and provided a further 65 assists in 371 first team appearances.

The Welshman scored some vital goals for the club – including two FA Cup final winners – but he was allowed to walk away for free when his contract expired in 2019 and he opted for a move to Juventus.

However, Ramsey’s time in Turin hasn’t gone according to plan as he’s struggled to recreate the kind of form that he showed at Arsenal and has been unable to hold down a regular first team place over the past two seasons.

Rambo has managed to score 6 goals in his 65 appearances for Juve so far and started just 13 Serie A games last season so it’s been no surprise to hear the Italian giants are ready to cash-in this summer.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs throughout Europe but CalcioMercato claims Ramsey has decided his preference would be to seal an emotional return to Arsenal.

According to the Italian outlet, a move back to the Emirates is ‘not impossible’ but Arsenal are only interested if we can re-sign Ramsey on a free transfer – something that is unlikely to appease Juventus.

The Serie A club hope to recoup a transfer fee but CalcioMercato suggests a swap deal could be a solution for all parties and Ramsey is willing to lower his wages from £115,000-a-week net [€7m per year] in order to secure a return to north London.

Mikel Arteta is in the market for midfielders this summer as Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock are all tipped to leave Arsenal. Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard have also returned to Real Madrid so we desperately need to sign at least two new midfield players this summer.

Obviously Ramsey is much loved by Arsenal fans and many would no doubt like to see him returning to the club, however, I personally think we should move on and focus on other targets.

Rambo is still plagued by injury issues and turns 31 later this year, so it would be a very risky deal for Arsenal. We’re better off going for a younger player who has the potential to develop under Arteta and who’ll hold his value.
