Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to send a message to his followers after being axed by Mikel Arteta for Arsenal’s 3-0 hammering at Manchester City on Wednesday night.

Ozil has endured a difficult season but looked to be turning a corner having started in all 10 Premier League games since Arteta took over in December and was getting back to something like his best form before football was suspended.

However, the German playmaker was surprisingly left out of the entire Arsenal squad for our trip to the Etihad Stadium last night with Joe Willock given a chance to impress in the advanced midfield position.

Arteta confirmed after the game Ozil wasn’t injured and was left out for ‘tactical reasons’ prompting some angry reactions from unhappy fans after Arsenal were easily beaten by City. And it didn’t help that Willock had a stinker.

There have been unconfirmed rumours circulating that Ozil was one of two players who didn’t take part in a squad conference call that was called by Arteta recently. The boss was reportedly left furious by the attitude of the two players as he used the call to give a rousing speech ahead of the restart.

It remains to be seen how much truth there is in the rumours but something has gone on behind the scenes as Ozil has now posted a picture of himself on Twitter holding the Arsenal badge with a comment saying ‘no matter what’.

I guess Ozil is saying ‘no matter what, I’ll always love Arsenal’ and that’s lovely but this situation is a dark shadow over the club and it needs to be resolved quickly.

Ozil earns £350,000-a-week and Arteta felt he wasn’t valuable enough to make a contribution away to the defending league champions. Arsenal can not afford to have a £350,000-a-week player sitting at home watching games on the TV.

It’s a worrying situation and Arsenal have to find a way to buy Ozil out of the final year of his contract. No other club will match his current wages but we have to try and find a way to get this sorted one way or another before the new season.

I don’t know why Arteta prefers to play Nketiah over Martinelli.

I want to use this medium to remind Arteta, that the goal Martinelli scored against Chelsea, Eddie can’t make that run. So Arteta should please keep sentiment and play his best team, because that was what led to the sack of Unai

And for Luiz, I pray that he played his last game for our lovely Arsenal
