Arsenal planning £97m triple swoop as Arteta looks to overhaul squad this summer

According to reports via The Sun, Arsenal are planning a stunning £97m triple swoop on Spanish clubs with Mikel Arteta hoping to sign Unai Nunez, Carlos Soler and Marc Roca this summer.

Arteta needs to overhaul the squad left behind by former boss Unai Emery and strengthening defence and midfield should be a priority as we’ve been poor in those areas throughout the past few seasons.

William Saliba will arrive from Saint-Etienne but Arsenal need another top class centre-back to partner the highly-rated Frenchman as the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, David Luiz and Sokratis have proven to be liabilities on several occasions.

Pablo Mari could yet complete a permanent move to the Emirates following a short stint on loan from Flamengo but it looks like Arteta has another target in mind as The Sun are citing a report from Larzon that claims Arsenal are eyeing a swoop for Unai Nunez.

The 23-year-old has been one of the best young central defenders in La Liga and The Sun says the likes of Manchester City, West Ham, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich are all keen after watching him impress for Athletic Bilbao.

However, Spanish news outlet Larzon says Arsenal have now joined the chase to sign Nunez and are willing to meet his £26.4m release clause – which would represent something of a bargain for a player with his potential.

Arsenal also need to improve our midfield options as we’ve been far too easy to cut open this season and the report says Arteta is eyeing moves for Soler and Roca with the duo both valued at around £35.3m [€40m] each.

Soler has been excellent for Valencia since breaking into the first team setup and he’d add some much needed creativity to the Arsenal team if we were able to lure him to the Emirates this summer.

The 23-year-old made his name on the right wing but is comfortable playing on the left or in the advanced central midfield role so his versatility would be a valuable asset for Arteta.

Roca is far more defensive minded as he’s been hugely impressive in the holding role for Espanyol this campaign. The 23-year-old is a fine tackler and has a great passing range so he could be viewed as an upgrade to Granit Xhaka.

Espanyol currently sit bottom of the La Liga table and are expected to loss Roca even if they manage to avoid relegation so it could be a relatively easy deal for Arsenal to do if we act fast to beat the competition.

I think Nunez, Soler and Roca would all be great additions to the squad, however, I have my doubts over how Arsenal could afford this proposed £97m triple swoop without selling some key assets.
