Arsenal have confirmed a blow with the news that Sead Kolasinac has been ruled out for a month with a shoulder injury but there is a more positive update on Kieran Tierney and Cedric Soares.

Kolasinac was forced off during the 3-2 win over Everton last weekend after falling awkwardly on his shoulder and it was feared he may be facing several months on the sidelines if he required surgery on a dislocation.

The good news is that Kolasinac doesn’t require an operation but the left-back has still been ruled out for around a month as he’s not expected to return to full training until the end of March.

It means Mikel Arteta will be without two of his first choice left-backs against Portsmouth tonight as Kieran Tierney is also still recovering from a shoulder injury but the Scottish international should be back in contention soon.

Tierney hasn’t played since undergoing surgery in December but Arsenal have confirmed he will resume full training this week so the former Celtic full-back should be available for selection over the next few games.

Soares is also set to take part in full training next week as he bids to kick start his Arsenal career. The right-back has been recovering from a knee injury since arriving on loan from Southampton in January but he’s now close to making his return.

The final update from Arsenal surrounded Calum Chambers and obviously he’ll be out for the foreseeable future as he’s facing up to nine months on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Ahead of tonight’s FA Cup trip to Portsmouth, the club issued the following team news update on Arsenal.com:

Calum Chambers
Left knee. Ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee during Chelsea (h) on December 29. Successful surgery completed. Rehabilitation process expected to take between six and nine months.

Sead Kolasinac
Right shoulder. Significant strain to right shoulder joint during Everton (h) on February 23. Aiming to return to full training by the end of March.

Cedric Soares
Left knee. Aiming to be in full training next week (w/c Monday, March 9).

Kieran Tierney
Right shoulder. Aiming to return to full training this week (w/c Monday, March 2).

Why do we bring player who are injured when we are badly in need of players to support the team.
