Arsenal confirm double injury boost but trio face late tests ahead of Bournemouth trip
Arsenal have provided a team news update ahead of Thursday’s trip to Bournemouth and Mikel Arteta has a number of fitness concerns to worry about for his first game in charge.
Let’s start with the good news and the club have confirmed Mesut Ozil is back in contention after missing the 0-0 draw with Everton due to a minor foot injury that he picked up during the defeat to Man City.
Arsenal have also revealed that Dani Ceballos is back in full training again after missing the last nine matches in all competitions with a hamstring injury that he sustained during the draw with Vitoria in early November. However, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be involved at the Vitality Stadium on Boxing Day as he’ll be lacking match fitness.
Now to the bad news. Arsenal have confirmed a fresh injury concern as Gabriel Martinelli is a doubt for the Bournemouth game later this week after picking up a hamstring issue against Everton.
Hector Bellerin is back in training but will also need a late fitness test as he looks to return from a hamstring injury while Rob Holding is another player who needs to be assessed after missing the last five matches with a knee injury.
Calum Chambers is suspended on Thursday after picking up his fifth booking of the season while Sead Kolasinac and Kieran Tierney remain on the sidelines through injury so Arteta will be without a number of players at Bournemouth.
Let’s hope Bellerin, Holding and Martinelli are all passed fit as he desperate need them available for Arteta’s first game in charge since being announced as Arsenal’s new permanent head coach.
