Confirmed line-ups: Vitoria vs Arsenal – Pepe & Tierney start for Gunners
Arsenal can all-but secure qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League with a win over Vitoria in Portugal this afternoon.
It looks like Unai Emery will deploy a back three with Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis and Rob Holding lining-up together in defence. Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Kieran Tierney will be in the wing-back positions if that’s how Arsenal line-up.
However, we could still go with a back four with Mustafi at right-back and Maitland-Niles in a more advanced role so we’ll have to wait and see how the team shapes-up at kick off.
Nicolas Pepe is given a start in the Arsenal attack along with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka so Reiss Nelson and Alex Lacazette are named among the substitutes this afternoon. Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos start in midfield with Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi named on the bench.
I’m relieved Hector Bellerin is on the bench as that hopefully means he will start against Leicester at the weekend but fingers crossed Tierney and Pepe come through the match today as I’d have preferred to see them rested ahead of the trip to the King Power.
Here are the line-ups:
Vitoria
Douglas; Venâncio, Tapsoda, Soares, Pêpê; Evangelista, Agu, Davidson; Edwards, Duarte, Víctor García.
Subs: Miguel Silva, Leo Bonatini, Rochinha, Al Musrati, Andre Pereira, Poha, Hanin
Arsenal
Martinez; Mustafi, Holding, Sokratis; Maitland-Niles, Ceballos, Willock, Tierney; Pepe, Martinelli, Saka
Subs: Leno, Kolasinac, Bellerin, Torreira, Guendouzi, Nelson, Lacazette
